APET stays one complete source quarter behind and excludes incomplete financial years from annual comparisons.
The source includes PBS, RPBS and under co-payment prescriptions, but excludes medicines supplied through some Section 100 special arrangements.
High expenditure does not by itself indicate waste; price, eligible population, treatment duration and clinical value all matter.
